A2 G324: LOCATION RESEARCH

LOCATION RESEARCH:

I am only researching locations, I am not going to film the production in all of them.

When filming the final production I want the location and setting to be visionary and imaginative. I specifically want the incorporation of neon bright lighting to create a 'trippy' effect which is common in night clubs and bars. This is because most R&B music videos specifically 'Jhené Aiko's Wading' includes many fiery colours which added to the aesthetic of the video.

The images below give me inspiration to create a music video full of attitude, art and colour. The hallucegenic effects create a mysterious mood that most people agree with. The target audience for my music video will be the younger generation, therefore, these lights and bright colours appeal to the majority of these individuals. Drug and alcohol use is increased during the ages of 16 to 25 which means that this art style will be sufficient for the video.

These images are from Pinterest and were allowed to be used elsewhere.

So far, I have found a few places in London that would be interesting to film in. Firstly, I wanted to research a bit more into the city London and understand why this would be a good place to film my music video.

This video was created on Keynote on a Macbook Pro, and includes information as to why I want to film my production in London.

FIRST LOCATION:

GOD'S OWN JUNKYARD -

God's Own Junkyard includes new and used neon fantasies, salvaged signs, vintage neon and old movie props. It is a very artistic and colourful gallery which would be perfect for photography and filming.

Chris Bracey has put this neon junkyard together and has installed, collected the signs behind some of the greatest stars. Examples are, Tom Cruise's 'Eyes Wide Shut', Johnny Depp's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and Jack Nicholson's 'Batman'. Each prop is repaired and resurrected with quirky art and powered to shine like jewels of light.

SECOND LOCATION:

LIGHTS OF SOHO –

Lights of Soho, is the world’s first culture hub, Gallery and Member’s club, operating as a social enterprise out of Soho’s Brewer st, London.

The gallery is open to the public until 6pm, six days a week and for members from 6pm – midnight. All the art is for sale in the gallery or can be purchased on the online shop.

The lighting in the bar is very vibrant and visually appealing which would look great in the camera. However, the only problem with this location is that it would be a problem to film in the bar due to the actresses and I's age. The gallery is very busy as it is in central London therefore, I may need to reconsider this location choice.

THIRD LOCATION:

NEAL'S YARD -

Neal's Yard is in Covent Garden and is a very popular tourist site. The colour and building styles is very uniquely designed which makes the street come to life. This would be a very effective place to film scenes for my music video as there is so much to capture and film. However, I would need to understand how the location will relate to the song.

The map shows the location of Neal's Yard.

WOULD I FILM HERE:

The location is very aesthetically pleasing and would look great in a music video however, it does not suit my theme and song as being romantic and smooth. This location would be better for a happy more upbeat soundtrack with more life and beat.

FOURTH LOCATION:

BEDROOM -

I am going to shoot some of the shots in a bedroom like this where the sheets will be silk and the lighting will be warm and orange toned. I want this scene to be seductive and chill so I will make the surroundings as comfortable and 'cosy' as possible.

WHY A BED?

The bed is single therefore, shows that the actress is powerful and is comfortable on her own until her partner sorts his thoughts and feelings out. It shows that she is moving on until he shows her that he loves her.

FIFTH LOCATION:

DRAMA STUDIO -

{IMAGES}

I want to film sections of the music video in the drama studio in our school because there is blue and red lighting which can look behind a black background. I imagine the actress standing in front of the backdrop while the camera focuses closely on her face and her expressions.
